Epic Hexeris aka Lord Arbiter Hexeris

SO, after a while here is some info for this guy!

This image and text is from Beast of War

Through cunning, raw power, political acumen, and tactical genius, Lord Arbiter Hexeris has furthered his own schemes while simultaneously strengthening the Skorne Empire. The lord arbiters occult knowledge goes well beyond the lore of the skorne, and no enemy arcanist is safe from his vampiric thirst for mystical secrets. To oppose him in battle is to be sapped of arcane power as he steals and transforms the energies of his foes.

I really like the look of this model! Really aggressive and mid combat. The Armor has improved since his primal incarnation, so this might be reflected in his stats! As presumed he has kept his GulGata, which hopefully will keep its rules etc.

From the blurb it seems like he will have something like Arcane Consumption (like Psy Vampire, but permanent) But it will be interesting to see when he is fully unveilled!

Battle Report

Wednesday evening in Hull.

So this wednesday i was in Hull to visit a friend. While there, we went to visit Hulls Angels, a nice friendly gaming community with some
great terrain and access to templates for scenarios and all for £2(1 if your a student)

First off I played a quick game versus Matt, who ran pGoreshade, and I ran Dominar Rasheth, for whom this was a pretty poor match up. I won the roll of and went second.

My List:
Dominar Rasheth
-Bronzeback
-Gladiator
Min Posse
Min Paingiver Beast Handlers
Min Bone Grinders
Agonizer
Paingiver Task Master

Tier 2
25 points

His list was:
Goreshade the Bastard
-Deathwalker
-Deathjack
-Harrower
Max Banethralls
Gorman DiWulfe

26 points

He deployed quickly, by placing his banethralls to the left of goreshade his jacks to the right, and AD the deathjack.

I placed my titans centrally, the posse to my right, the bone grinders and beasthandlers behind them with rasheth in the middle. the agonizer between titans and posse and the task master right behind the posse.

He went first moved up, and grouped up ready for a good early hit.

I went second. Got the gators forward 9 inches and gave them tough. Use the gladiator to rush the bronzeback and slam forward. The bronzeback riled for 3 and ran. The paingivers walked up behind but doing nothing else. The agonizer moved up. Then the trixi ness began. The bonegrinders activated 3 shuffeling behind the titans and one running withing 5 inches of the banethralls, using the t2 bonus. Rasheth activated and used the bonegrinder to place a nice scather in the banes and killing one aswell. furthermore he put some fury into the agonizer leaving him on 2 fury.

Matts second turn, he realied that a charge would most likely fail, and would cost him several banes, so he just shuffeled his army to the right,  took a pot shot at the posse with the harrower doing 7 damage to one posse and ended his turn.

My second turn arrived and it began with the posse getting +2 strength and charging the harrower, dropping it to 4 boxes. Then the paingivers enraged the bronzeback and the titan rushed it. The bonegrinders gave rasheth some range, who then used one of the gators to bloodmark the DJ as well as using his fury to top of the agonizer. Next the bronzeback activated and charged the deathjack, used his animus, and proceeded to
go to town and charged attack and first inital hit, doing a fair bit, however due to him be affected by Death ward all his systems were untouched. I rolled the second initial and missed... bought 2 more attacks, of which the first missed aswell, boosted the last and trashedthe jack. I looked at the model, and i couldnt figure what i had missed, ended my turn, not satisfied... BEATBACK... there i was hoping for a chain attack, when all i wanted was beatback to goreshade and pummel him... damn me and my stupid brain...

Matts second turn began with him looking rather grim. He used all his banes to put my bronzeback down to 1 health and my gladiator down to 6 his harrower try to thresher without avail, and he finally the moved goreshadeback popped both mageblight and his feat, and passed back to me.

I looked at my cards for a minute, and new that the banes had to die... I used rasheth to heal both beasts back up, then healed with the paingivers and used the bonegrinders to get a nice back channel next turn. The bronzeback then activated, used train wrecker on himself and started with his initials, killing bane after bane, however 2 missed attacks left him on 4 fury by the time he reached goreshade, who only took 6 damage of the massive beast. The titan gladiator initiated a trample and out of the 8 banes it had to kill, killed 3... i was guttet as well as no being able to target goreshade by 1/2" worth of arc... I used on gator to finish of the harrower, and 3 banes, that the bronzeback hadnt killed.

He activated and used his banes to kill a gator and the bronzeback, and used gorshade to finish off the gladiator, most of my hitting power was gone... He camped on 4 focus and then passed back to me.

I knew it was now or never. I spammed a massiv aoe at him, and killed the deathwalker and put corrosion on goreshade, but did no damage... bad dice strike again. I leave my self on some fury, use the posse and kill the last banes. Only gorman left...but he is untouchable, by all my beasthandlers who are now trying to kill him...

Matt now then activates and kills the remaining posse withgoreshade, and then camps on 5 focus...

I activate the bonegrinders, who give rasheth the range, who then puts 3 sunder spirits onto goreshade, who is left with 3 boxes... I've already cut myself for 3 and leeched the agonizer dry... I look at matt and tell him his won. He looks perplexed

He activates goreshade, with max fury walks over to rasheth, my free strikes do nothing... all the anatomical precision in the world... and he's undead... He kills rasheth with ease, and I realize that non livin lists give rasheth to much of a hard time to make him my caster for the ETC next year.

We shake hands and laugh, we both had a good time. I really like the bronzeback, he just has somemany awesome things, even though his mat 7 let me down, and me forgetting beatback... screwed me over even more.

Sorry for the late posting... I've had 3 weeks without the internet, and plenty of uni work to do...

Ill try and post things more regularly

Weekend Madness

So I am moving house tomorrow (going to live in Nots) and overall the past few days have been pretty intense!

However for the love of wargaming i managed to get a few hours in with kenny to play some battles.

First we played a game with pMorghoul vs pDenny.

My List:
pMorghoul
Bronzeback
Gladiator
Rhinodon
Brute
Savage
Shaman
Min Beast Handlers

Kennys List:
pDenny
Deathripper
Deathripper
Deathjack
Skarlock Thrall
Max Bane Thralls with UA
Withershadow
Warwitch siren

So I went first, and deployed all my models, and then kenny deployed most of his stuff.

My First Turn.
I ran up most models, and some advanced, using rush from the savage and safeguard from the brute. My savage went onto the right flank and the rest of the army went central.

Kennys First Turn.
He ran most things up, and got the deathjack into the woods in the centre and an arc node either side.

My Second Turn.
My rhinodon took up the left flank, most things shuffled round in the middle, morghoul put admonition on himself and abused the savage. The pain givers enraged the savage, who then wrecked the right hand side arcnode.

Kennys Third turn.
Everything advanced in his main army. Then an arnode advanced towards my bronzeback (at this point i forgot countercharge, which cost me the game, first time playing him and all) He used denny to crippling grasp my bronzeback, which then got eaten by the Deathjack.

My Third Turn.
So deathjack in my face, i thought i could get to denny. After drawing in my fury, my savage frenzied, ran towards the warwitch and missed... He was now outside my control area. I used the titan gladiator to push my rhinodon an inch forward, who then got abused, enraged and rushed. Morghoul put admonition on himself, the brute safeguard on morghoul, and then the rhinodon trampled(i chose rush over amuk, not a good idea) I Trampled him taking out 4 banes including the UA dude who gives tough :). The freestrikes killed another 2 banes and droped some health on my rhinodon.  then went to buy an attack on denny and was 1 inch out.... worse even if i hadnt rushed 3 more banes had of died, and i would have been in reach range of denny... o well. So that failed.

Kennys Third Turn.
So kenny then use some banes to take the woods and 3 to finish of the rhinodon. The withershadow advanced and did 3 damage to the TG. The deathjack charged morghoul who hopped out the way, however he made it withing 1/2inch of my shaman who then bit the dust... Using some extra souls he used influence of the Deathjack to kill my paingiver leader. The warwitch took a bit of my savage, but nothing essential after the skarlock crippling grasped him.

My Fourth Turn.
So it was time for some action. I leached in my fury, and activated the brute. He had already done some damage to the DJ on a freestrike and put a further 3 on him, and Safeguarded morghoul once more. Now morghoul abused the titan gladiator and charged the banes in the wood, and killed the 3 there. Now he used admonition on himself and popped his feat. Then sprinted onto the arcnode. The savage frenzied again and chopped the warwitch in two! The titan gladiator the turned the deathjack into deathscrap.

Kennys Fourth Turn.
1 bane reached morghoul did 14 damage, which i transfered to the brute, after denny popped her feat. She camped all her focus, and the withershadow did another 4 damage to the savage. The skarlock crippled the savage and that was turn.

My Fifth Turn.
I tried to kill the arcnode with my brute, and only damaged a few movement boxes. Then i used Morghoul and the titan to finish of the banes. The savage frenzied and ran back into control area.

Kennys Fifth Turn.
So he walked up with denny and put crippling grasp on the titan and did 8 damage with the withershadow. He  also put some damage on the brute killing it with a venom.

My sixth turn.
I abused and rushed the gladiator and the savage walked 4 after a crippling grasp of denny. The titan then attempted to kill denny and inflicted 12 damage... missed two attacks by 1 to little of the dice roll.

Kenny sixth turn.
He allocated 3 to the arcnode, and used the 4 on denny to know everything down with scourge. The arcnode then forfitted its movement and got up. Then he used his attacks and finished of morghoul who killed his titan with transfers untill there was nothing left.

This was a really good game. We both made some mistakes and in the end it was to dark to carry on really, as we played outside.

This Weeks mini Survey

So with 4 votes, the next buy is going to be the Bronzeback!

So what should next weeks survey be about?

Character beasts seems like a good bet!

Epic Hexeris

So as promised I have devoted a small section to this cool caster Lord Tyrant Hexeris, and his new Epic form to be released in Domination.

I think after seeing the artwork, we can make a few assumptions.

Firstly, Hexeris will not change in stats or weapon, he might get a point of armor increase, but this is not certain. He does look a lot more imposing, which could suggest that he will be known as Dominar Hexeris, but this is pure speculation.

Secondly I would say its safe to say that he still wields Gulgata, however he might have lost beat back, but life drinker seems to be a safe bet, as are reach and magical

Furthermore epic Hexeris is clearly casting a direct damage spell, his current form uses soulfire, I think he might not keep this spell.

So what do we know about the process of turning epic. Well generally you keep your feat as a small spell or ability, and overall the character tends to refine his role, going from more generic to more specific, and should mark a change in his story. What change? I do not know, however we do know Hexeris is a very ruthless skorne, with no care for anything other than his own projects. His is friends with both Mordikaar, and Zaal, who are the only casters to use souls (mordikaar culls them, and zaal guides ours). We know hexeris has made use of his friends to better understand souls, and to make his own gem, that hosts one of his great ancestors.

What does this mean?

Well I am pretty sure eHexeris will gain Boneshaker, a spell that represents his feat very well. Furthermore, I think his soulslave ability will either become a passive once per turn channel or a beast bond. The real question is will he keep his Vampiric flare? ie will he still have vampiric reaving or psychic vampire? Or will those be incorporated into his feat? I consider Calaban from Blindwater a good counter part to hexeris, and his feat seems like something that hexeris could use. I would like hexeris to gain access to a soul mechanic, especially seing as zaal doesnt really use his souls himself, but redirects them.
I would also like obliteration being changed out for a different spell, like hellmouth or deathbringer. I dont know what will happen to his signiture spell, Death March, and if he will keep it, or if that will be converted into his feat, +2 mat and extra tokens for everyone that has been hurt? Unfortunately untill Privateer Press release the blurb, we cannot more but speculate.

My top bets in a quick recap are:
-armour 17
-Boneshaker
-soulslave as ability
-new spells
-soul based feat
-remains very much the same otherwise

Hopefully we shall know more from Gencon!

More Spoilers!

So I saw this thread earlier this morning, and it is highly interesting link

It shows certain pieces of artwork for other factions.

Firstly a Lightning Troll, which would give the trolls the final elemental troll, however it is unknown if it is a heavy or light troll. One of the staff mentioned her wrist hurting after holding the model for a while which could indicate a heavy, however this is just speculation, but it would go with the 50mm base seen on the Skornadactyl. In its artwork it is holding a long lightning rod Zeus Style, which might give it a short range attack like the impaler, possibly with electro leap? Maybe an Static animus granting electric immunity and electro leap, which would follow the other 3 elemental trolls, and makes trolls better against high def, and allowing them to target high def solos behind jack and beast quite easily like cygnar with their storm stuff.

Secondly a worm like legion creature. It has carnivean/raek type head and a wormish body/neck with has loads of little scythean arms, a bit like a Zoanthrope from GW... Go figure, no idea, might just be a rip off razor worm, to give legion bombshelter, which would make striders/hexhunters even better, and the rest of there choices not quite so bad.

Also there is a new artwork portraying an Albino(white and red eyes) Argus Hound! Could it be a character light warbeast for the Circle of Orobos? which could confirm my speculation about each faction getting a character light. However, it could just be new artwork for a re-sculpt like for the Gorax, and more is yet to be found out...

And Finally a picture containing a Griffin in Circle armor, which could also be a new heavy warbeast, like our Skornadactyl, meaning that quite a few factions will have access to a flying warbeast, which might leave the trollbloods without one, which would make sense...

For more information visit the thread and check it out!

What to Expect from Domination

Domination is the next big release for Hordes, and as such, I am very looking forward to this release. It stands i the series next to Warmachines Superiority, which had the big releases of Cavalry as well as the third epic caster. Each faction also got some well know character solos like Kovnik Joe and Bane Lord Tartarus. Obviously we know some things, and others are just pure rumors/speculation.

I think there will be 8 releases per faction, I could be wrong, and am very likely to be.

What we know:

Skorne will be getting two new casters:
Naaresh, who has been spoilt already, and whose miniature is on the Privateer Press Website
Epic Hexeris, about whom not much is know other than the artwork, in which it looks like he is keeping his weapon Gulgata, and his armor is getting a slight upgrade.

Also we will be getting our Battle Engine, like trolls, circle and legion.
For us it is a Massive dinosaur with a howdah, containing a Venator Cannon(dual) a platform for fighting off and a rased position for a Horn Blower. Apart from the Howdah the dinosaur has a massive hammer like tail, which could give it some back side defenses.

We are also getting a new Warbeast, which looks like a Terradactyl! This is from the Monsternomicon, or could well be.

This is obviously a WIP

So thats what is know!

Now for some SPECULATION

Right so presuming that there are 4 more releases for skorne, what could that mean for us, and what are we missing that our warmachine comrades already own.

I would say number one on the list is a character unit, as legion of everblight got one of those and not a warlock attachment. I would think it only to be fair for us to get one.

Secondly a second character beast, this time a light, Seeing as most factions in warmachine own 5 now(2 heavy and 1 light and the 2 new wrath ones) I think we've got some catching up to do. Maybe an Exotoller Cyclops who has adopted zaals way of life and works closely with him? Or a drake so potent its a one of a kind.

Thirdly, a new UA for a unit. This I think because trolls have had theirs even released, which might I add looks fantastic. I could only imagine some cool ones:
- Karax UA giving reform?
- Nihilator UA giving them something like silence?
- Or possibly for any of our other units

Now for the last entry I am not so sure. There is one main contender : Solo. Why? because we'd be getting 2 new beasts 2 new casters 2new unit additions 1 battle engine, why not a solo? My thought a Chataphracs Solo, and this solely for the fact that Xerxis tier allows Chataphracs solos, which we don't have.

What ever we get, I think it only cool and right if we got a new character just to mix up the game a bit more, and please remember this is wishlisting and speculation, and not confirmed from pp or any reliable sources, just me pondering about what we could get!

What do you guys think? Reasonable? I for one hope for some cool surprises with Domination and more Excellent and High Quality products from PP

Saturday at Maelstrom Games

So this Saturday me and my good friend Kenny went down to Maelstrom Games, to build and paint some models, purchase a few things and play a game.

We got our selves some few things, for me it was the tyrant commander and standard bearer and a second ancestral guardian. Also I bought my self some more bases (I have ordered some, which were 25mm and not 30mm and 35mm and not 40mm..... EPIC FAIL).

After assembling the models (which have to be pinned... and getting green stuff everywhere...) we had a drink and decided to play a 50 point game.

My list:
Hexeris
Drake
Razor Worm
Cyclops Savage
Cyclops Shaman
Titan Gladiator
Rhinodon
Marketh
Min Swordsmen  + UA
Min Swordsmen
Min Beast Handlers
Agonizer
Ancestral Guardian
Ancestral Guardian

This is a tier 3 list, giving the swordsmen advanced deploy and the ancestral guardians advanced move

Kenny ran:

eSkarre
Cankerworm
Malice
Leviathan
Skarlock
Max Satyxis Raider with UA
Min Satyxis Blood Witches with UA
Withershadow Combine
Satyxis Raider Captain
Satyxis Raider Captain
Warwitch Siren

We decided not to play a scenario and just go for an assassination game

I won the roll off and went first:

My turn 1.
I placed the Agonizer central and the 2 ancestral guardians to the left and the right with about 12 inches between em. The Battlegroup went in these slots and hexeris next to the Agonizer.
My Swordsmen were then add infront of each AG and then those moved up to give them defense with defensive strike. The razor worm went wide to the right.
t1 benefit upkeeps. Swordsmen with Ua had death march, razor worm had soulslave and hexeris had psychic vampire.

My Turn 1
I started the game, ran the swords men 8inches followed up each AG and then rushed the rhinodon between em and followed up with most of the warbeasts and hexeris who dumped 5 fury into the agonizer.

Kenny turn 1.
Kenny activated his army, and decided to bring the pain. First using his Scarlock use black spot on my swordsmen without ua, and then proceded to use his leviathan to kill 5 of them. This gave Marketh 2 souls and the Ancestral Guardian on the Left 3 Souls. He then moved the cankerworm near my razor worm, and the proceeded to desperate pace + powerswell on his raiders and charged. His charge nearly killed the rhinodon, killed 4 swordsmen ( including the ua leader... my bad placement to blame) and removed the cyclops savages body and spirit. Luckily my AG defensive striked his unit leader and the field promotion helped, to save me from loosing more. The rest just advanced.

My turn 2.
So i had 8 souls on 2 ag and marketh. So i used the 2 souls on marketh to upkeep death march and soulslave,  and leeched my fury. Next my swordsmen used vengance and remove 3 raiders. I then started by activating the first AG and charged the cankerworm and failed to kill it (2 fully boosted damage rolls at -3 to damage and i put 7 points on the worm...who would prove to be a thorn in my eye for the remainder of the game) Next the swordsmen proceeded to use there now mat 8 and side step to kill all but 2 of the raiders, and the AG used one soul to become faster and cleared some of the others. The rhinodon rushed up towards skarre and the satyxis witches and was out by an inch to get more than 1, which he smashed. The paingivers healed my beasts, and the razorworm ran towards the withershadow. I then activated hexeris and cast obliteration to kill the withershadow, however the razorworm was half an inch out, for steath, hence going for the aoe, which deviated just to much to only clip one of them and the leviathan. I fluffed my roll vs the withershadow and the jack took 3 points of damage...(if only I had rolled that good on tremelus...) not seeing much else to do I slammed the titan gladiator who had rushed himself to get more of an edge. I used the drake to block any charge lanes from the canker worm to hexeris and the savage killed 2 more raiders, only the UA was left, however i had to much fury on the board, and new that if it came to it either my shaman or savage could frenzy.

Kenny turn 2.
Using the satyxis ua first she failed her attack, he then proceeded to use is black ogryn to CRA my savage, luckily i hadnt killed the ua, and the cra missed thanks to being engaged. The cankerworm proceeded to punish the AG for failing to kill him and trashed him, thanks to powerbooster from the siren. The leviathan took a shoot at my drake and half killed it, and then malice decided to drag the drake and place himself too reap a few souls. Next the bloodwitches charged, and killed the 1 swordsmen and 1 other of the main unit. they also killed the rhinodon and used his strength to finish the razorworm. then they put some hurt on the titan. Finally Skarre activated and popped her feat, protecting herself, malice, the satyxis ua, a raidercaptain and stopping my drake from spraying her or the withershadow.

My Turn 3.
After seeing all that damage, I upkept death march and leeched my fury leaving 1 on the shaman and 3 on the savage, having had to reave the fury on the razor worm. The savage proceed to frenzy and killed a swordsmen, which lead them to flee... Bad start... I then proceeded to mesure my control area, and activated hexeris first and popped his feat. He charged the nearest bloodwitch and killed her easily, she then killed another chaining for 3 other victims. Hexeris, bought a second attack which remove the rest of the unit, bar the ua. The using a spell he shot and removed the skarlock, whos mat 3 proved useless for the feat. Next went the shaman who shot the other raider captain, who killed the ua, and the ua in return did nothing. I used the ancestral guardian to give himself speed 6 again, who then charged the black ogryn, killing one, who killed a second, but he didn't kill the last one. Marketh killed the siren with a spell, who couldn't hit the cankerworm. After that i just moved the beast handlers into better positions and removed some excess fury. I placed the gladiator to protect hexeris using rush and slams, and then hoped, that he wouldn't have much to answer.

Kenny turn 3.
He looked at the board and said he was please he used his feat. First he tried to use the remaining black ogryn to smash the AG, and only put 5 points of damage onto me. The he activated skarre and put admonition onto malice. the cankerworm came out and killed the drake, and the leviathan took 2 shoots at the gladiator doing about 6 damage. next he moved malice up and shoot my titan gladiator, and damage him. Then using drag brought him close, however he couldn't drag him through some obstructions, so he used his admonition move to get into melee. He then bought an attack which did another 8 damage to the gladiator, but couldn't do much else. The Withershadow blasted the shaman and marketh, kill marketh and putting 12 damage on the shaman, who wouldn't make it much longer.

My turn 4.
I let everything expire, and by magic the swordsmen rallied and came back up the board. Then the shaman tried to shoot the cankerworm doing 9 points of damage, however not enough to cripple him. The AG then failed to kill the black ogryn. Next i activated hexeris, spent one fury to get the savages animus, using his movement to get to the satyxis witch, then killed her. Using beatback he got next to malice, who i then got 5 attacks on, knocking him back quite a bit. The remaining paingivers healed a few beasts and enraged the savage and the titan. the gladiator then slammed malice, and proceeded to follow up. after his 4 fury was spent malice was left with 4 boxes, which thanks to Death Ward had been his claw and some cortex. The savage then charged the remaining raider captain, and killed her. Not having much left i thought i could win the game next turn.

Kenny turn 4.
He directly measured his control area and knew he couldnt quite reach hexeris. He allocated focus to malice the cankerworm and the leviathan and then shoot with perdition hexeris for 5 damage which I took and moved the leviathan up. He then tryd for an attack of malice which missed. The cankerworm then killed my shaman and the withershadow made sure that one swordsmen was also not coming back. The leviathan then charged the titan and put a good amount of hurt on it, however not removing it from the game.

My turn 5.
I knew there werent may options, but nothing i could really do. I used hexeris to kill malice, and the AG finally killed the black ogryn. My swordsmen, now back charged the cankerworm, in a tag team with an enraged cyclops savage to remove the beast... one swordsmen reached the withershadow, but he happened to be a standard bearer(how i wish he would have a knife... ) The titan then tried to kill the leviathan, but didnt quite manage, as no enrage and bad dice. It still had some boxes in movement, but no greater threat.

Kenny turn 5.
He couldn't quite reach hexeris, who was just outside his treat, so he moved skarre back a bit and shot hexeris for 9 damage, which he took like a man. The leviathan missed its attack, and the withershadow mopped up all but the savage and his beasthandler.

My turn 6.
I charged the AG into the leviathan, and rolled awesome dice and removed it (6 6 5). I then enraged the savage again and killed 2 withershadows. Now all i had left was hexeris and the titan. Skarre was on 4 focus... not easy and about 12 inches away. Hexeris was also trapped between to wreck markers... The titan couldnt do much and turned around. I then used hexeris walked up and cast soulfire. I need to hit twice with 2 boosted damage rolls really to have a good shot. I used the savage animus on my self just to have a bit more risk. I needed 9s to hit i rolled a 7 on two dice, I boosted and rolled a one... missed... i cast the spell again, knowing that i had lost, I rolled 2 dice and rolled a ten, and boosted the damage, i did a power 25 hit, leaving Skarre on 4 health... I shook kennys hand and called the game, after 6 spectacular turns I knew i had lost.

Overall we both had a fantastic game, it was really enjoyable...and possibly one of the closes games we have fought.

Later on we went for drinks and had a small 25 pointer in the morning, where pMakeda proved to be a master assassin with carnage from marketh, who was outside the lamentation area of venethrax and the tyrant commanders +2" giving me a nice 13 inch walk and 4 inch sidestep into the back on Venethrax, who then was made quick work of.

I really enjoyed both game, particularly the first 50 pointer at Maelstrom Games who have an amazing facility in Mansfield. However i think my list really needs tweaking, possibly dropping the drake for something else, maybe even maxing out the unit of swordmen, and an exotoller... but i'm not sure yet

Next time there will be pictures!

I hope you've all had fun

Master Ascetic Naaresh Spoilt

Master Ascetic Naaresh

STATS: Average warlock speed, MAT of above average but not melee master level, RAT of who cares, DEF of Stryker, ARM is identical, smallish CMD

FOC: average; Warbeast points: average

2x Katara, P+S of not high (double digits at least), combo strike, life drinker

Abilities: Tough, Blood Trade, Flagellant, Pain Monger (suffers dmg and gets stronger and harder to hurt)

Feat: damage Warbeasts to heal and to grant warbeasts increased STR and ARM.

Spells: Bleed, Cyclone, Iron Flesh, Lamentation

This is what has been spoilt about him, and I really like what I see! Overall keeping in with the Skorne fluff and hurting beasts, to increase strength, making him quite a beast focused caster.
Stats wise he is basically a Nihilator with better armor and def like all warcasters.

I like tough, always can help, and Iron Flesh is fantastic with our troop selection. Lamentation can be quite useful against certain factions like menoth and trolls...
Cyclone obviously makes him very mobile, adding in things like the Tyrant Commander come to mind. Bleed and Life Drinker combined can keep our caster going for longer, and make him more aggressive. I like the whole power from pain aspect and that makes him quite an awesome counter attacker!

I will definitely be getting this guy! He seem to add something different to the faction, and with life trader he can just do so much more damage, which I reckon will always be worth doing as u heal each kill anyhow :D

I hope you find this post somehow useful!

Ancestral Guardian

So I got this guy, cos I like the model and the background on the AG, I mean big angry statue, driven by souls of fallen comrades in battle now if that aint awesome!

Ancestral Guardian

I hope i am getting better at this whole picture thing, and he also has gotten his own micro art base.

Rating
Assembly: 2 Piece model simples
Painting: So many gems to paint... but otherwise quite straight forward
Rules: I like the Ancestral Guardian, even though for 3 points he is a bit border line. I dont think he works in all lists but he works well in my Hexeris list, which I play at tier 3 so they get advanced move, to give them a lot of mobility, there real weakness. I will also use him with Zaal, when I get him (anyone that doesnt is Crazy) I might put him in with Makeda as well, I shall see.
He is very good at killing things, and can protect my infantry with his defensive strike, forcing opponents to not attack or risk losing models in there turn. Also he can be a pain to get rid of, and putting bomb shelter on him allows me to maximize girded on my swordsmen, which is nice, and it means he will get souls too!

Hexeris and Friend

So here is my first Painted Skorne model EVER, and his best friend more on that later.

Tyrant Lord Hexeris
Front

Back

Hexeris model Rating:
Assembly : Medium (His Left arm with his weapon is quite heavy and is best to be pinned)
Painting : Loads of ornaments and little bits, it took me 5 hours to paint
Rules: I like Hexeris, he has a kind of vampiric feel to him (Blood Drinker, Psychic Vampire) and also some Necromancer stuff (mainly his feat). Overall I have won a game thanks to the feat, and Hexeris is no slouch in combat either! Really like him and his model, which is HUGE

Hexeris is my first skorne caster and his feat alone has won me the game against an infantry heavy list. However tough he is, he will not stand up to the likes of Butcher or Borka ;)

Hexeris friend: Razor Worm

Now I'd like to give the razor worm his own post, BUT him and Hexeris are best buddies! I mean the Razor Worm is a fantastic warbeast in his own rights (its own?), but only ever fits a niche area. For Hexeris however, the razor worm is more than a beast, firstly it is highly mobile, and ignores most terrain (eyeless sight + pathfinder) but more importantly under Hexeris' spell Soul Slave, the Razor Worm becomes an arc node. 4pts for an arcnode, with Advanced deploy and pathfinder and speed 6 yes please! But wait there is more, due to its nature, when it kills an enemy it can tunnel, which allows it to move again, and always passes its threshold checks, allowing it to charge 11.5" followed by a 6" out of action move. Now hexeris can spell assassinate ppl a further 8" through the worm, which also ignores cloud effects and forests thanks to eyeless sight!

On his own, the Worm is also great due to his Animus (spell contained in each warbeast) Bombshelter, which lets a model, and all models in base contact with it ignore blast damage, which against certain lists (Yes you Durgen Madhammer!) is a god send.

So what you guys think? Look alright? Hope the pictures have improved a bit ;)

More Models!

So I've ordered some models from the great People at Firestorm Games, and I must say they provide a great service.

I got the Warpack (generally a good way to start a faction) and some Paingiver Beast Handlers, and some more Micro Art Bases check out there stuff at http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/

Going to need somewhere to assemble this lot... My Fiancees parents isn't the best bet.. :)

Ill keep posting more to come soon!
Hopefully some warlocks :P

Cyclops Shaman

So I've assembled and painted my first Skorne Warbeast, the Cyclops Shaman

Sorry for the bad lighting, I will sort this out in the future

Something of note, I am using Micro Art Studio bases for all Solos, Warbeasts and Warlocks to make them stand out more from the rank and file troopers

Skorne Cyclops Shaman Rating:
Assembly : Easy
Painting: Ass all Privateer Press models: Very Fun and enjoyable
Rules: I really like the Shaman as he is a great support beast, and has got a ranged attack which is something rare in skorne

I hope u like my work, I am looking into uploading more stuff asap

Magicka

I dont know if you have played this game or Diablo style games at all, or if you like em, but even if you dont Magicka is a game worthy of playing and that for multiple reasons!

1: Indie
Its a small company so you pay very little for the game on steam (roughly £8) and it all goes to them and not a massive corporation (yet...)

2: Gameplay
The game works with a very clever system.
There are 8 elements (Fire, Water, Frost, Earth, Lightning, Arcane, Heal, Shield), and 4 ways to cast (Staff, Sword, Self, AoE). Each spell can be built of 5 elements, however some nullify others (lighning and earth, arcane and heal, fire and frost, water and lighning) and some that combine (fire and water gives steam, and frost and water gives ice)

This system allows for so many different spells... from simple Boulders, to Laserbeams to Steam-Electric Beams... its all there. You can make walls of fire, or ice, or mini volcanos.

Furthermore there are 21 Magicks, which are spells u can learn from tomes. These give u things like Haste and Rain, or cooler spells like Summon Death(who comes and kills the weakest person in health percentage)

3: Story.
Now it isnt some amazing thriller that will keep you hooked, but it is funny, and plenty of funny referances to other games and films, and host many cool characters like Vlad, who is not a vampire xD

All in all it is a very fun game and if you want a good look I can only recommend TotalBiscuits Wtf video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_XP9OBWGKo

Skorne 101

So what is Skorne all about and why do I like em?

Skorne is a warrior faction within the Hordes and Warmachine Universe from Privateer Press. Skorne mentality could be quite easily be confused with a spartan mentality, as they follow a strict warrior code, which is the only way to reach a form of afterlife, as in Skorne belief, there is no afterlife, and the only way to beat death, is to be chosen as favored. This is one of the fluff aspects that really draws me to the faction, as they only way to beat your fear is to face it :)

Skorne models have a very oriental feel, with back banners and katana like swords, and typically come painted in Red, Gold and Black.

So far I only own a limited amount of models,
However, this will increase

Warlocks (Leaders on and off the Battlefield)
Archdomina Makeda
Tyrant Lord Hexeris
Dominar Rasheth
Master Tormentor Morghoul

Warbeasts (Powerful beasts enslaved and forced to fight for the Skorne)

Rhinodon

Light:
2x Cyclops Savages
Cyclops Shaman

Units (do i need to explain?)
